OTHERWORLD
Otherworld is a series guided by a longing to understand how inner states of grief can manifest into wonder and resilience using the language of plants and the feminine body. Working in large-scale drawing with ink and dry media, I create visual environments inspired by the where I was raised in the Sandhills of North Carolina.
These forms hover between abstraction and figuration, resisting linear narrative in favor of surreal embodiment. I use intuitive mark-making and atmospheric line work to evoke environments where the human and non-human, are combined in strange and emotive ways.
